Karen started working in the Scottish Government in the Ingage Team with a role to support collaborative and innovation approaches to public service reform, taking a lead role for the Pioneering Collaborative Leadership Programme and the Fire Starter Festival Her key interest is in how imagination and creativity can be utilised as part of the process of transformational change including policy and practice across public services.
She started her working life in social work with children and families. This was followed by 18 years working as Senior Lecturer and Teacher in further education, focusing on experiential approaches to learning. In her role as a National Education Advisor at College Development Network, she created and curated the Emporium of Dangerous Ideas, a national education festival aimed at shifting the axis in education.
Karen is happiest when lighting fires, usually whilst camping rather than in a wilful fire-raising manner!
